Healthy women are the heart of happy families. Everyday women in developing countries suffer and succumb to preventable diseases at a shocking and skyrocketing rate. The top two culprits are breast and cervical cancer. Today in India and in developing countries women have new convenient and trusted digital screening options and they are standing up against historical biases and taboos to take charge of their health like never before. Flavia Oprea, Co-founder, ENTy
"Why Old Medical Technology Should Make Room for the New One"
After a visit to the doctor, computer sciences students Flavia, Cristian and Iulian noticed that many diseases have “loss of balance” as a common symptom, which led them to a simple conclusion: early discovery and treatment of this symptom would allow us to avoid complications and maybe even disease altogether. Thus, they created ENTy, a simple device that helps doctors perform balance tests easily and comfortably, while also sending anonymous data that allow us to track diseases in various categories of people and discover them ahead of time. What Flavia is trying to answer is why we should share the truth about medtech by having a startup, leading a research or simply spreading the awareness.

We'll explore together the advancements of biotechnology in tissue regeneration from a purely engineering point of view. Parkinson’s disease is a neurodegenerative disorder characterised by an abnormal movement pattern. Even though at the moment it has no cure, patients can benefit from long-term monitoring and treatment adjustment. The treatment aims to maintain mobility and to improve the quality of life. Blending IoT and wearable technologies with medical knowledge, constant and long-term automatic monitoring will lead to significant improvements for people living with Parkinson's.

"Blockchain: A New Era of Opportunities in Healthcare "
Blockchain is most known for being the technology behind the famous Bitcoin cryptocurrency. But its applications go far beyond finance and banking. Indeed, it has the potential to deeply transform the health care sector and the way patients, doctors or researchers interact. More interoperability, a better management of medical records and patients at the center of the health care circuit - these are just of a few of the promises brought by blockchain technology.

Simona Retea, Coordinator of the Paediatrics Day Center, HOSPICE Casa Sperantei
"Pioneering Technology in Therapies for Children in Palliative Care"
In a dynamic world, where technology is growing fast, what are the common wishes? What do people want? What means hapiness and joy? In children’s palliative care there is so much helplessness. Sick children want to play  as much as others do, they want to walk, they want to eat eggs. Do you think they ask for too much? My answer is “no, they don’t.  They just want to feel normal and comfortable. How that can happens in their situation? How can they feel free and escape from their world? There is one answer: through technology. It’s the only way they can be helped to feel normal for a couple of minutes. Technology can help them to be more functional, more adapted , motivate them to start putting into practice their few resources they have to continue in life.
Cristina De Juan, Founder and CEO, IMT
"How to grow a digital health culture"
Digital health has grown significantly as an industry in the last 3 years. It's now well-known within the medical world and has attracted attention from other industries such as tech giants. Medicine is about to be radically transformed, although promising, many challenges are stil to be solved. How this new medicine can already transform our health today, what are the technologies of tomorrow and how a lambda individual can deal with this new medtech era? Alistair Wickens, Chief Executive, Quealth
"Can Smartphone Technology Really Change Behaviour?"
Alistair is convinced machine learning could offer significant advantages for disease prevention, particularly in eliciting new knowledge about the relationship between risk factors and disease. Although his smartphone app, Quealth, is already referenced as one of the world’s most effective algorithms at predicting your risk of diabetes, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Cardiovascular Disease (CVD), he believes this can be improved upon using machine learning techniques.

Our response to crises reveals a lot about our attitude and perception. For many, a crisis is not a time to be mourning lost opportunities, but a time to be finding new ones and for Greece, the current economic crisis offered the chance to be more strategic about conscious public expenditure and for entrepreneurs to seek new opportunities for development through innovation. For Greece, implementing “ehealth solutions” means the development of customer/patient value through health care solutions that meet new needs efficiently, effective collaborations and partnerships with stakeholders beyond Greece and a change in our behaviour.

"Empowering Medical Personnel to Make Data Driven Decisions"
