Bela E. Papp

A&O CEE Director

Heading Microsoft’s Advertising & Online (A&O) business group for Central & Eastern Europe since 2012, Mr Papp is overseeing the expansion of the Redmond-based company’s digital assets – such as Skype, MSN, Windows Live, Bing, Windows8 Ads-in-Apps and mobile – in this fast-growth region. Working closely with market-leading sales houses as well as a dedicated sales team, Microsoft’s A&O unit aims to innovate constantly to deliver the most creative advertising solutions possible to leading international and local brands.

Before that Mr Papp headed Swiss publishing company Ringier’s Business Development activities worldwide, with special emphasis on the company’s new media investments in Central and Eastern Europe, China and SE Asia, as well as a dynamically growing global apps development and production business for multi-platform tablets. He started with Ringier in 2003, when he was appointed to head the company’s Hungarian subsidiary, the country’s largest print and online media firm with revenues of close to EUR 100 million.

Previously Mr Papp worked for Sanoma Budapest, where he developed and led the Business Press Division. From 1996 to 1999 he was Central and East European Marketing Director for ABN AMRO Bank, after working for close to nine years for The Economist Group in Vienna, Austria, where in the early 1990s he was the founding Chief Editor of the first pan-regional monthly of its kind, Business Central Europe.
Bela E. Papp also sits on the Executive Committee of WAN-Ifra, the newspaper industry’s leading international association representing national press associations and over 8,000 daily newspapers and their online businesses.
