Jonathan Chippindale is Co-Founder and Chief Executive of Holition. Formed as a venture start-up a decade ago to explore and expand the role that technological innovation can play in communicating narrative to today’s digital-focused consumer, Holition is a synthesis of luxury marketers, mathematicians, scientists and technologists, artists and psychologists, retail specialists and cutting edge leaders in innovative thinking. They craft premium digital experiences for a growing network of pioneering brands across the luxury, fashion and beauty industries, including Richemont, LVMH, Kering and L’Oreal Group, Estee Lauder Group and Coty.
Working across a wide variety of technologies including augmented reality, big data, wearables, artificial intelligence, machine learning, fashion shows, projection mapping, smart textiles, haptic and robotics to name but a few, Holition’s creative technology projects bring audiences closer to brands, connecting digital to retail by delivering memorable retail experiences online, in-store and through mobile. Their international deployments have been installed at retail stores around the world including Selfridges, Harrods, and Dover Street Market in London, Isetan in Tokyo, and Bloomingdales in New York.
Holition frequently partners with artists to help explore the potential of new technologies. Collaborations in 2017 include ‘Softer’ by Jenny Holzer at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire as well as an exploration into the relationship between robot and human by BRIA, for London Design Festival at the V&A in London.
Jonathan’s team are experts in the areas of digital retail and are widely invited to be thought leaders at global tech, retail and innovation conferences and events; sharing their knowledge and experience to encourage thinking beyond the expected.
Jonathan is an External Industry Advisor and Visiting Lecturer at Central St Martins and the British School of Fashion, a member of the London College of Fashion Digital Think Tank, a mentor to BBC Worldwide Labs and Tech Stars, as well as advisor to the University of Cambridge Digital Compass Group. Jonathan is also a member of the Digital Advisory Panel to the British Fashion Council and Innovation Advisor to the Tate.
Previously spending ten years working for the De Beers Group as a Managing Director, Jonathan was responsible for all marketing activities throughout global developing markets, with a special focus on China, India and the Gulf. Prior to that Jonathan held senior marketing roles with Asprey, Garrard and Mappin & Webb.
Jonathan holds an Honorary Doctorate from University of Arts London.
