Workshop: Partnering with Patients in Research through an Everyone Included Framework

Justin Lai, Healthcare Service Designer, Stanford Medicine X
Sylvie Dobrota, Research Associate, Stanford Medicine X
"Partnering with Patients in Research through an Everyone Included Framework"
Though much literature exists on the benefits of partnering with patients in research, recent studies have found that patient involvement is often inconsistent and underreported. How might we identify and investigate problems that matter most in health care by conducting research that effectively leverages the expertise of all relevant stakeholders? In this workshop, we will: 1. Present current research being led by patient researchers and patient-centered research initiatives institutions are undertaking 2. Identify barriers that currently exist for patient and public participation in research 3. Use design thinking to identify important principles that will foster collaboration and engagement 4. Ideate ways to meaningfully partner with patients in all steps of the research process from ideation to manuscript preparation Upon completion of this workshop, attendees will: 1. Demonstrate basic knowledge of design thinking and Everyone Included framework 2. Meaningfully collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups 3. Collectively create a set of guidelines and principles of partnering with patients in research 4. Organize ideas with relevant tools, identify opportunities for design and ideate solutions that may spark further avenues of research

Masterclass: Hospital and Clinic of the Future

Ksenia Benifand, Former Manager of the Strategic Foresight Unit, Alberta Health (Government of Alberta)
Simona Ralph, Consultant, Quality and Healthcare Improvement, Alberta Health Services
"Hospital and Clinic of the Future "
The traditional delivery model of a hospital or clinic as the “hub” of care, with a single centralized facility, providing every facet of disease management and treatment is being disrupted. The exponential growth of digital and virtual health technologies to deliver care, coupled with patient and family expectations for on-demand services with flexible options, is paving the way for increasingly cost effective and safe deployment of advanced technology deeper into the community, and the movement of higher-acuity care into the outpatient environment. Join this Master Class to explore how latest technologies and care delivery models can benefit patients and families, health workforce, service delivery organizations and policy developers. We will explore: • Design that enhances the well-being of patients and staff members—with an emphasis on the importance of environment and experience in healing. • Big data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to aid decision-making, continuous clinical monitoring, and targeted treatments; • The use of smaller, portable devices to shift services out of hospital settings; • Digital supply chains, automation, robotics, and next-generation interoperability to drive operations management and back-office efficiencies. • Virtual Care opportunities connecting specialists in urban setting with patients in rural/remote settings. The class will include a presentation summarizing the latest research, as well as a hands-on futures planning workshop.

Matthias Wenk, Marketing Operations Director, Ryanair Ltd.
"What websites and apps are travelers really visiting before (and after) they book hotels or flights; and do their booking behavior differ between desktop and mobile (or even mixed) customer journeys?"
.
Magdalini Vafopoulou, Digital Product Manager, ThinkDigital Group
"Reach & Engage the Travel audience on TripAdvisor"
Today’s travel audience rarely will visit a restaurant or book accommodation without reading first what verified reviewers have to say. Online research & particularly reviews significantly influence purchasing behavior. As a result, reaching travel purchasers where they massively consume content prior to booking is key to drive brand awareness & impact their decisions. During this session Magda Vafopoulou will discuss how TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel community, can help brands reach and engage the most relevant audience at the right stage of the travel circle.
Kostas Kampakis, Performance Marketing Director, ForestView
"Don’t start with the budget!"
You can’t start with the budget! NEVER start with the budget. That way, you’ve already set the bar on what your business can do, before even considering traveler trends, market dynamics or your ACTUAL potential. The budget is the result, not the starting point of a proper digital marketing plan. Kostas provides a quick, easy to follow and implement 3 step process and a couple of case studies to prove his point. Start by answering three basic, yet not so simple questions. Who is my audience? What do they do online? What can my business do online? Concentrate your efforts in providing data based answers to those questions and then, crafting a business plan that leads to exponential growth is easy.
